The V-46 was introduced only a few weeks ago, but the boating world has already crowned our new Valhalla flagship as king of the big center consoles. If you followed the evolution of the Valhalla 46, you’re probably not surprised. The highly anticipated V-46 builds on the success of the V Series, taking the offshore experience to new heights with its tremendous size, additional amenities, comfortable seating for large crews, high-level fishability and ground-breaking engineering. These qualities (and many others) shine through in this V Report, which consists of a handful of images from our recent Florida photoshoot of the Flag Blue hull No. 1. Enjoy!

The V-46’s industry-leading build quality, fit-and-finish, style and attention to detail prevail from bow to stern. The forward lounge seating, with its leg-elevating design and premium upholstery, offers luxurious comfort (and a killer view). The port and starboard forward seats feature available Release Marine teak backrests with storage below. A centerline step-up platform provides easy access to the anchor locker and ground tackle, and functions as a convenient elevated position for casting. Rod and cupholders abound; the recessed bowrail heightens safety; and the molded-in faux teak toerail has become a must-have V Series aesthetic enhancement. Smart seating/storage solutions continue with a two-person seat molded into the lounge’s forward section that holds an optional above-deck pressurized live well with clear lid.

The console, helm seating modules and the forward lounge are all elevated on a 7-inch-high platform, which optimizes visibility and allows for increased interior volume below. Hull No. 1 was outfitted with an assortment of teak touches, including two rows of Release Marine teak helm chairs (with individual armrests, folding bolsters and electric slides), teak-covered standing platforms for the helm and second-row seating, and a faux teak helm pod. With its intuitively designed hardtop and windshield, visibility is excellent in all directions. The clean, streamlined layout of the console and dash (featuring a recessed black acrylic panel with flush-mounted displays and Bocatech switching) is classic Valhalla.

No other center console in this size range carries more beam (13 feet, 4 inches) than the V-46. Among other things, her girth allows for a four-chair second row of seating and large aft-facing mezzanine, an expansive cockpit, dual 54-gallon live wells and a pair of transom seats. And then there’s all of the storage space below deck, which we’ll get to in a future V Report.

As with the accommodations on our Vikings, the Valhalla’s interior amenities are built in-house in departments such as the Mill and the Machine and Metal Shops. You enter an entirely different world once you step down into the cabin -- an air-conditioned private retreat with dinette seating, a drop-down pedestal that converts to a queen berth and an available 32” HD TV. Aft, the galley features all of the conveniences you’ll need to store and prepare food and beverages for a hungry family or fishing team.

Like the Viking engineroom, the Valhalla 46’s machinery room is a showcase of our mechanical and electrical expertise. Key components and systems such as the 9 kW generator, batteries, water heater and battery switches are housed in this well-lit, dry enclosed space.

Those who have sea trialed the V-46 have raved about her speed, handling and performance in rough water. “We have a new name for the 46 – “The Beast” – because it’s such an incredible sea boat,” says Viking President and CEO Pat Healey.
